How to hide my info updates from newsfeed on facebook?

How do you hide your updated info from popping up in your friend's newsfeed? I tried removing it from my profile but it doesn't really delete it. It just says it does. I went on my sister's profile and it was still in the newsfeed. I also tried looking under privacy setting and I couldn't find anything about it. Thanks!
I tried that once already. I thought it was removed as well. But I went on my sister's profile and it really wasn't removed from the newsfeed.

Go to your Profile.
* Find the update you want to delete.
* Hover your mouse in your update. If you find Remove, click it.
