Absolutely nothing. Its supposed to be hashtag in front of topics on twitter. People are ignorant and use them on Facebook. On twitter #politics- the word politics will be hyperlinked and search all tweets for the word politics if clicked

It means absolutely nothing. # is used as a tag in Twitter. Using it on Facebook just makes you look unintelligent.
