Twitter. What are the #'s for?
How come people will put number signs before certain things (examples: #whatuthink, #riseandshine, #blessed, #tiredandgrumpy)
And you can click on it and it will lead you to that page...?
What is the point of it and what's it called.
And how do you know when to put one on your tweet?

The hash tags on twitter are just things that people put on the status' or twitter updates. It's what ever they want it to say. It doesn't have to be your mood or anything. It can be but, you may just put what ever you please after it. So, in other words you put a status and if there is a little extra thing you want to put at the end you can put a hash tag and type it but, there can't be spaces. They don't really have a purpose it's just a useless trend that people have been doing. Hope this helped.

The symbol for a Hashtag is #. They help you find tweets that you're interested in. People use the hashtag symbol # before releveant keywords in their tweet to categorize those tweets. Clicking on the hashtagged word in any message shows you all other tweets in that category. Trends follow hashtagged words.

If you tweet with a hashtag on a public account, anyone who does a search for that hashtag may find your tweet.

the # is called a hashtag. it is sort of like a category so that if you want to look something up, things that are hash tagged with that word will show up. (example if you type in 'food' things that have #food #restauraunt #eat etc. will come up)
people also use it to state moods etc (example: i have so much homework #dont want to study #so bored)

I guess you can call it a "trend". The number sign is called a hashtag. It's pointless and makes the person look completely stupid if used on Facebook AND if used excessively on Twitter. Hashtags are kind of like "marks" to indicate the "keyword/phrase" and what the topic the tweet is about. If you click on the word with the hash tag, you'll see more people tweeting about the topic.

A lot of people just make things up with the hash tag and that's perfectly okay. You can put hashtags pretty much on any word or phrase of your tweet, but for phrases they CantHaveAnySpacesOrPunctuation. It's up to you to decide on what word/phrase you think is the keyword. There is a column for "Trends" and you can see what is "trending", those are the most popular trends on Twitter for today. You can use those popular trends to tweet about something relevant, or just make something up on your own.
