Are my families feelings towards this justified or are we being selfish?
My mom is planning to move two hours away to another state with an old boyfriend from over two decades ago with whom she reconnected with on facebook just two months ago we have never met him nor do we know anything about him she's talking about marriage and kids and refers to him as me and my brother step-father and seems dead set on doing it and most of us are upset by it they stopped dating because he went to jail on drug charges thats all we know

You have a right to feel any emotion! You are not being selfish, after all you probably love your mom and don't want her to move away and you don't know this man either so that worries you because you want your mom to be treated right and loved. But you can't stop her if she really wants this. At least she knows how you feel right? That's all you can give right now.

How long ago did he go away from drug charges? Was it for crack or just for pot? There is a difference. Do you live at home?
Your mother is rushing things. I do believe you should tell her that if she wants to move, she should think about how much it will affect all of you, and to not rush the decision.

I think what you have to understand here is that your mother is getting a lot of special attention from this man, and it is making her feel very good right now. She is in a state of infatuation, and it will make her do rash things.
Urge her to take her time with him, for your sakes.
