How can I recruit more people to a political forum?

I mean anything on the internet obviously, I've told friends.
I just got a twitter, but I am wondering what other free ways I could get more interest in the forum are out there. I am willing take a lot of time do recruit people, but it must be free.

Any ideas?

Stay away from the easy sounding internet options. People like to think Twitter, Facebook, and My Space will gather people up, but realistically, not many people want to do work for your cause just because you tweeted.
