How do I have a hotmail email adress of someone else deleted or blocked?

A few months back my girlfriend had her yahoo email and facebook broken into. She immediately reset her facebook password to something stronger and deleted her yahoo email all together. I'm not sure if this is linked, but it seems logical...Today she recieved an email from a hotmail address saying send naked pictures or her personal information and pictures will be spread to her family/friends. Please help us stop this creep!

all you can do is report it to hotmail.

it is super-easy to forge a return address on email.
.. almost like sending a letter to the IRS and saying it comes from Jerry Brown, former Gov of California.
you just need to write it on the envelope. Nobody at the post office double-checks if the return address is authentic.. and your mail servers rarely check if the "sender" address is real.

someone is pranking you.. or a virus collected your names and is testing to see if you open email with that person's name attached. In that case, they are just trying to get around your spam filters.
