My brother keeps saying atheists are bad people?

I'm atheist. My brother has been ok with me being atheist (he is muslim..raised christians) until today on facebook. he was saying that all atheists do is use drugs and go to jail. and keeps talking to me like i am doing this for emotional reasons. i became atheist because i wanted logic and truth. any ideas on how to handle this?

Ask him to provide evidence for his claims. With any luck he'll do some research & find out that atheists are less likely to commit crimes than theists, have a slightly higher IQ than theists, & do good simply because it is the right thing to do, not because they are being threatened with hell or promised heaven.

Put your reasons for being an atheist on your face book, or even on his. You explained it perfectly well to us. If he can't cope with reality, that's his problem, not yours.

If your brother believed in a loving god either Christian or Islamic he would act like it. So why does he attack atheists to prove there can be no such thing in his life?

He disgraces Christianity and Islam to their core with his hatred and bigotry!

Well why not just show your brother this statistic:

Only .2% of the prison population is atheist whereas 99.8% are theist. That should shut him up.

You can follow up with this one:
93% of Mensa is atheist (I'm guessing he won't know what Mensa is so you should have that answer ready too), and 91% of the Royal Academy Of Sciences is atheist.

One last one:
The most atheistic countries are the most peaceful and have the lowest crime rates.
