I see people using the # sign in tweets. What does it mean in tweets?
For instance if I'm talking about Jack and Kate on Lost I'll say "Jack and Kate really need to be together #Lost."

the # is called "hashtags", these tags are for marking tweets for specific categories or subject, it is used to make following specific topic or even seraching them.
