How do I ge over the hurt and move on?
My 13 yr old daughter found her bio dad on facebook. She contacted him 2 yrs ago but his wife's jealousy took over and he stopped all contact. She found him again and they've been talking for a week now. I can't help but be hurt. I can't forget all the things he did to me. I want my daughter to get what she needs from this relationship, but keeping a brave face is getting hard. How do I let go of the hurt and be suppotive?

I'm not a parent but whenever someone has wronged me, I always just think about why that person did what they did, and I start to pity them. i.e. They are not as good at dealing with conflict as I am and that will be hard later in life. etc. Pity works for me. It ties into karma. Also understanding where that person comes from may help you to be more understanding of why he did what he did.

These things, bottom line, remove YOU from the situation and help you take what he did to you less personally.

Good luck to you and your daughter!

Past is past, I know it's hard but do you want to be someone living in the past or you rather be someone who lives for today and tomorrow? We all need to move forward and live with a goal in life and it's worse living without any goals in life. Focus on your kid and her future.

Your daughter has to learn on her own . This is not your relationship with him its hers he may have hurt you but she may need to know her father.

Keep the past in the past and move forward the best you can for your daughter's sake. Know that you have done a good job this far, and it's only natural for your daughter to want to know about her father!

Remember this is about the relation between your daughter and her father. Not Yours!!! Just think of that and know that u need to help HER.

-Hope this helps!
