Thinking of joining Twitter, few questions..?

I'm thinking about joining Twitter (my friends have all recommended it to me) and I just have a few questions...

1. Can you hide people from seeing the number of followers you have? I see all these people with like 5000 people following them and I don't want to feel like a loser if I have like 12

2. What's a way to promote your Twitter?

3. Are you always supposed to end you tweets with hashtags (#)?

To answer your first question, nope. They can see who you follow and who follows you and how many of each.

Second, you can use hashtags (#) and tweet a lot. I found that if you follow a bunch of people, they'll usually follow you back too. So if you're going for followers, that's a good way and probably the most efficient way.

Third, no. That's entirely optional and most the time unneeded. But it is what a lot of people on Twitter do.
