how can i explain facebook to my parents?
i wanted a myspace in the beginning but i heard that facebook was easier and safer. i don't know how to tell my dad though cuz he's a pretty strict guy and i don't want him to yell at me. (cuz he kinda did when i asked for a myspace) almost all my friends have a facebook and none of them talk on the phone anymore.

So i'm asking if anyone can help me figure out a way to tell my dad what a facebook is and that i really want one!

Tell him it's a way to keep in contact with your friends. You can talk to other classmates, share pics of good memories and have applications on your page where you can add music and quizzes. It's no big deal! And you can keep your profile private so that people you don't know can't look!

tell him:
- that you know the risks that come with facebook
- you won't post too much personal info, pictures, etc
- you are responsible for what happens on your profile
- he can look at it if he wants to

and i do i hope you ARE responsible and won't do anything stupid like posting weird pictures and stuff like that

hope it helped Smile

I am the mother of a 15 year old and we just created her facebook page together today. Ask your dad to help you select pictures, write about yourself, and let him know your password. Explain to him that it's like having a phone number in today's world. My pastor's wife has a facebook page! Don't break his trust by changing your password without telling him, posting sexy photos of yourself, or writing things he wouldn't like. I'm sure you would rather have more privacy, but it's better than nothing.

It's a social networking site..He is just worried that an online predator will seek you out through pictures or exposure of age or similar items.
Assure him you will not display your age, city, or real name.
Just demonstrate to him that someone cannot simply log in as a new person and view someone's profile at random, that should help ease his worries.

whoy don't you just show him the site? or maybe you can even show him one of your friend's profiles. if you show him its safe theres hardly any other reason for not having it. good luck!
