What social networks are like Facebook in the sense of being personal and close but is NOT facebook?

I hate facebook. Im never using it again or anything along those lines,,, But I liked the intimacy of it and it was really clear. Are there any websites like that? Ive tried myspace and myyearbook and tumblr theryre all not really me

I've heard of a new site called google+ but I haven't actually been on it yet. I've heard that it's just like fb.

Seems very childish and immature to "hate" Facebook.
I am a middle aged professional person while my wife is an actress of similar age. We both find Facebook invaluable for professional networking and enjoyable for social networking.
Although we met on MySpace, that site seems to have thrown away and abandoned its adult members in order to cater only for young people. Therefore Facebook is the only one, while Tagged is an enjoyable bit of fun
