RT means ReTweeting! it means that if you like what the peron said then you RT it and it comes up on your timeline.. sometime people say RT( saomeone name to give them a shoutout to get them more folowers but normally its if you like the tweet.

RT stands for ReTweet, meaning that they forward the Tweet in question.

I think that RT means retweet. I still getting used to Twitter but I think RT means that the person is retweeting (or, as you said, rewriting) what that person said/Tweeted.
