The Internet provides a wealth of marketing opportunities for entrepreneurs, musicians, promoters and others who have a brand that they would like to share with the world. Specifically, you can use blogs, as well as social networks like Facebook and Twitter, to get the word out. If you want to get the most from these online avenues, though, you will need to use an effective approach that generates the right kind of attention.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

1
Create a Facebook page specifically for your business, product, artistic endeavor or other brand. Visit the Facebook home page and click the link that reads "Create a page for a celebrity, band or business." This allows you to set up a page for fans, and is preferable to the traditional Facebook profile for marketing because it allows you unlimited followers and eliminates the need for your followers to manually "friend" you.

2
Set up a blog that suits your needs. For a professional appearance, consider buying your own domain name from an online hosting service. (See Resources.) Otherwise, you can use a service like Blogger, Typepad or Wordpress to set up a free blog. Choose from their available page templates or download your own template from the Internet that suits your brand. A professional appearance is important.

3
Reach out to bloggers who deal with similar brands. Do not look for competitors, but complementary bloggers who may be of mutual benefit. For example, if you sell real estate in East Los Angeles, you might reach out to bloggers who sell real estate in the San Fernando Valley. Offer to trade links on your home pages and participate in the comment streams of your fellow bloggers. This will help you to build exposure for your own brand.

4
Sign up your brand on Twitter and use hashtags in each of your tweets (individual posts) to generate attention toward your brand. A hashtag is a word or phrase prefixed with a number sign, such as "#livemusic" or "#freestuff." When people search for your hash tag or related terms, your post will appear in the results. This will help you to gain exposure and build your Twitter following.

5
Encourage your friends, families, co-workers and acquaintances to follow you on Facebook and Twitter, and on your blog. This will help you to start out with a small, humble following and encourage others to follow you as well. You can also reach out to other users on the social networks who may have an interest in your brand, but do not spam users by simply advertising your product or service. Try to build a genuine rapport with these users.

6
Post regular updates on your blog and social networks that pertain to your brand, but do it in a way that will pique people's interest. For instance, if you have a band, you might write "Playing House of Blues Friday night; see you there." If you have a product, advertise any discounts, deals or contests. Do not simply use the networks to bombard people with tired sales pitches, but appeal to the interests of your followers with deals, events and new offers.

By marketing I assume you mean getting targeted traffic to your website. There are two types of traffic, paid and free. You mention no adwords or no click to pay so that leaves out paid traffic and leaves free traffic. There are many ways to get free traffic to your site. The main thing to keep in mind is the term 'keyword' or "keyword phrase'. Everything is found using keywords whether you submit a search in a search engine such as google or bing or yahoo. Or if you enter your keyword term in the search bar an another site such as you tube or face book. It comes down to the same thing. You want to optimize your site to match the keywords or keyword phrase that your targeted audience would more then likely submit in the the search bar.

Google and all other search engines want to match up the keyword submitted to the best website they feel represents those keyword. So if you enter 'dogs' google will list all the 'webpages' that they are able to find on the internet that they believe are the best websites about dogs with the number one listing as the best website and the authority about dogs.

it is called Search Engine Optimization better known as SEO. On page and off page SEO. On page you basically optimize your site with your main keyword. Off page SEO is the more links you have on webpages pointing back to your site the more traffic you can get. BUT quality links is better then quantity. So then you want to place these 'back links' that point back to your site on other already high ranking sites that your targeted people who are interested in what you have to offer are more likely to be.

Article marketing is based on this principal. You write an article around the keyword phrase you are targeting and submit that article to high page ranking article directories so that people can find your articles and within your resource box on your article you add an 'anchor text' back link to your site. This does two things to increase your traffic.

Obviously when the person clicks on the link they end up on your site and two, the search engines like google will give your site a higher ranking because of that link. So the more back links that are out there pointing back to your site the better chance you have for your site to end up on the first page of google.

Keyword research, on page optimization and off page optimization based on that keyword.
