Is moving to your girlfriends town a bad idea after four years of dating?

I just found out through facebook that my best friends boyfriend from college has moved to my town. I sure hope it isn't going to get serious between my friend and her first boyfriend of four years. I'm worried she will be broken up by him over the next year. I'm not sure if he is living with her and her family though. Is my friend rushing things? Can their relationship still fall apart?
