How do you close out a facebook account?

i had to open it to contact an old friend, mission accomplished, now i need to close it down. how do i do such a thing?????thanx.

Go to "Setting" in the blue bar at the top > Account Settings >Deactivate account.
You then have to leave it alone for two weeks. If you log back in before that it will reactivate the account.

Just go to settings and then accounts settings. You can deactivate your account from there
