Who doesn't care to use social sites?
i just don't see the point in using Myspace, twitter, facebook and the like.
I hear the various excuses to use them like to keep in touch with friends or whatever. i think that's bull, those people like attention and that's it!

As for getting in touch with people from the past, well i choose to keep the past in the past.

Isn't email, IM and texting (fast) enough? i think so. Plus it's too risky with the viruses, trojans and hacking.

I used to not care for them either, but I found social networking sites to be useful for keeping in contact with friends from my old school. But I don't let it run my life, its just easy to talk to people if they are all shown on one site.

You do have a point with the attention whoring of social networking, although it isn't just that. Not all users are the same. Some, like me, check in on a healthy basis and remain in contact with friends, having occasional chats. There isn't much risk with social networking besides being fooled into giving your password out.

I wouldn't say that they are completely attention starved ego-maniacs. However, that is the behavioral result from this form of communication.

Developing a fast-brain or ADD (Attention Deficit Disorder) is another end-result for the Twitter-Masses.

Big Government is phasing these sites into our social norm, so your attitude to not drink the kool-aid is admirable.

Yes, Identity theft and having your privacy invaded is real.. The consequences are detrimental, job loss, loss of friends, reputation smear, and imprisonment. Stay tuned for more control.

I'm 54 and I met my wife (52) on MySpace two years ago. We both enjoy MySpace but as a professional actress (Law and Order SVU, Starved) she uses Facebook for professional networking.
Either you are misinformed about viruses and trojans or you are a mischief maker.
The greatest risk affects those who steal (royalties) from music artists by choosing illegal downloads (Limewire etc.) rather than paying for their music.
