What is proper etiquette for todays society?
I mean what are some things all people should live by.
Like for example keep your house presetentable for guests, always give your best pieces (of food) to the guests, dont say the Lords name in vain, dont mix colors when washing clothes.

some of societies etiquette is really stupid and doesnt really matter it is really just to be viewed in a certain way ... be polite and complimentory with people you are not close too as in dont be crude or loud and act especially hospitable and nice... dont talk about insulting things even if they are not insulting to you they might be to a society an example politics or religion...if you dont know them well talk about light topics like weather and sports or news... take care of yourself hygenically and your house if they come over and obviously dont break laws ...there are many more but you can get eh point just appear normal and nice and as perfect as possible

Kt, not sure if mixing colors is etiquette worthy-just common sense!
One of the main things is to treat others the way you want to be treated.
Manners-anywhere, anytime. Thank-yous/Please/Excuse me/You're Welcome/
Hold the door for people.
Give up a seat when someone older seems to need one.
Don't chew with your mouth open.
Don't take more food than you can eat and waste it.
Don't litter-anywhere-in the car, in a building, in a restaurant...
Follow rules-like no smoking, no cell phones, ..
Don't talk loudly on your cell phone and let the whole world know you are talking.
Don't be inappropriate on Facebook/twitter or emails/texts..
Turn off your phone in theatres, church, meetings....
.It is not about knowing where to place your silverware as much as it is how to act with respect...

Respect, respect, respect...

Pull your pants up so we don't see your drawers
Don't wear a black bra with a see- through white shirt to work or to court. or church or school
Dont spit.
Don't chew your gum and smack it with your mouth open.
Don't curse in front of a lot of people during your whole conversation.

Is that enough? Whew, I am etiquetted out.
