Do people get a notification when others view their Facebook events now?

I read a few months back that Facebook will be introducing changes to make stalking more difficult, including event hosts getting notified when people view their events without responding.

I got an invite to a new friend's birthday which I'm not yet sure about going but I have snooped on it a number of times over the past few days. Just then, my friend inboxed me urging me to respond to it.

I haven't made any events lately so I'm not sure if the supposed changes have been rolled out but what was the chance that he got notified? I don't want to look like a stalker since I don't know him that well (yet).
