My baby's father didn't pay his phone bill, but on facebook chat right now next to his name is the little cell phone icon. Can your phone be shut off but you're still logged in?

Yes, absolutely. You can keep your phone service shut off and still be logged in to Facebook but you cannot shut down your phone. Take out your sim card from your phone so that you are not able to call or message. Hoping you would have an internet connection you can use the Facebook Application on your phone. The best thing to do would be download the Facebook application before removing your sim card, then remove your sim card and keep your phone connected to the internet so that you can use Facebook and not use your phone service.
