You should convince them by showing them how responsible you are, and by dismissing their problems with it. You could also come to a compromise, where you untag all the pictures of yourself, and just browse, or convince your parents to get an account as well to monitor you.

Well why won't they let you get facebook?
I have some friends whose parents won't let them get it and they can't convince them, they just have to wait till they turn a certain age.
Some of my other friends were only allowed to get it if their parents had one too so they could monitor what they were doing.
Maybe if you explained to them that you can make your profile private so only your friends will be able to see and make sure you only become friends with people you know then there shouldn't be any harm in it.
