No, it's not against HIPAA as long as he doesn't discuss your mother's case with you. His doctor or clinic may have some sort of a policy about dating someone they met at the clinic, but it's not a HIPAA thing.
My guess is, and I'm sorry to say, is that he's just not interested. Leave him be and move on. Lots of better catches out there! Ads |

If I am getting this right... You met this guy at work that is one of your employer's patients? You added him on Facebook but he won't talk to you so you tried looking him up and discovered his daughter goes to pain management? If the events are similar, you are a walking lawsuit as you've violated HIPPA twice. If you are not involved in the daughter's care, you should NOT know anything about her. You should also not harass patients outside of work.
