Is there any shame in only have a couple Facebook friends?

I don't have a facebook account, I only ever hear stories of all the fights and drama it causes in school. Much like MySpace did went I got bumped down from someones top 5
I'm just wondering because today my sister told me she had over 1000 facebook friends, I was shocked, which was then followed by "oh well some are just randoms" Do people just collect friends?

I guess FB is one of the best places to harass someone.
u are right. I've seen many harassments / fights/ bullying goin on on FB.

Myspace was even worse though.
kids were pretty much worried about being their friends top 8

it's good for u not to have a FB account. wise decision i guess.
i feel sorry for kids that have 800+ friends on FB because they are obviously lonely and pretty much addicted to FB .

Edit: Nope not many people are collecting friends on FB since it's not a popuarity contest.
most people add people they know closely in real life.
i'm sorry but ur sister is putting herself in danger i must say.
she should not trust ramdom people online because a lot of predators use fake photos of a hot young guy and send a friend request to young girls whom they wanna kidnap and rape.
1000 doesn't sound too normal ...
