Is it true Facebook is going to start charging in July?
I heard that facebook is going to charge $3.99 a month to use facebook. Is this true?

That seems a bit odd considering their user-base is under the age of 18, alienating them with a fee for service would eliminate many of their sources of revenue generated by ads.

Facebook themselves said that was false. It was a group started on facebook so millions of people would join and they'd get advertising money.

No way. They can make a whole lot more money from all the data being uploaded to the site, and from all the user behavior patterns they are able to study. Based on the people you like, the places you visit and tag, and the groups you join, they are able to display the right ads and make money. Charging for FB access is the last thing they'd want to do.
