how do you change your twitter username?

i went to settings an typed in my new username, then i clicked save. but it did not change. can anybody help me?

If you have already click saved,maybe u have to wait a few mins/hours/days...

It is possible the new name is taken. There is one I want but it is taken.
What burns me is, the person or persons isn't even using it.

Open a new browser and type out the name you want.
You will see an error or someones page.
If you see someones page, you won't be able to use it unless they change.
Also, the error does not 100% mean that the profile isn't created.
It could have been there before and deleted for violating the TOS.

You will then have to add other characters to the name.
