How do I stop certain Facebook notifications?

How do I stop certain Facebook notifications?
I don't mean e-mail notifications, I mean actual notifications I get in the top-left. Is there any way I can stop receiving certain notifications, e.g. getting poked?

You should be able to stop them by going to Settings - Account Settings - Facebook notifications. Hope that helps!
