Using Twitter to get followers with similar interests?
I was hoping to use Twitter to contact friends and meet new people.

Could someone give me a rundown on how easy and how viable it is to meet new people using Twitter? I know the site can be a bit hectic due to it's quick and easy nature, but I'd love to use it to find people who share similar interests.

I've been following people who share the same sort of general interests as me (In this case, Video games. Specific games.) and some of them have been following back. I'd like to get a decent amount of followers and people to follow whom I can somewhat relate to.

To conclude, has anyone got any ideas how I can build up a decent amount of followers who share the same interests as me?

Thank you.

Use search.twitter.com and find people who are talking about something you like. Then talk to them from there. They might follow you if they like what you say.

Search for other users by searching for a character in the games you like or the game titles themselves (a lot of people will use these instead of their real name). For example if you're a fan of the Zelda series you could search for "Link" or "Princess Zelda." Or as the first answerer said search for tweets that mention your fave games or characters in them. There are a couple of ways to do this (again I'll use LOZ as an example):

1. Use the search box to search for key words (ie "Legend Of Zelda" or "Hyrule").
2. Use a hashtag in a tweet abouth the game (ie "#LegendOfZelda"). Then when you've tweeted that the #LegendOfZelda should be blue and clickable. Click on it and it should take you to a list of tweets that mention LengendOfZelda.

If you want them to follow back you'll be better off following the ones who are following more people than are following them.
