If you want to disable your account you have to go to - Account which is on the lop right side of the face book page. In it it will allow you to change passwords what not. It is also a part to deactivate your account. Click and go on.

If you want to get off facebook then go click on the settings tab at the top right go to account settings and click on the deactivate account.

If you only want that no one except your friends is able to see you or add you then go to Privacy settings and go to SEARCH , choose visibility to Friends only and no one except your friends will be able to see you.

Across the top tabs, drag your mouse over "Settings"
Then, from the Drop-Down list, click on "Account Settings"
A list of options will come up.
Down the bottom, click on "Deactivate Account"

If you can't find this, go to this link:
http://www.facebook.com/deactivate.php

You will still be able to retreive your account afterwards.
But people will not be able to add you as friends and that.

But, instead, you can just put your account on a super safe setting.
Nobody that's not already on your friends list will be able to find you through a Facebook Search.

Under the "Settings" tab, this time, click on "Privracy Settings", then, from the list, click on "Search"

If you cannot find it, use this link:
http://www.facebook.com/privacy/?ref=mb#...iew=search

Hope I helped!
