How do you get your child's social security number as a non-custodial parent?
My child's mother will not give me my daughter's social security number. I pay child support and I signed her birth certificate although I do not have a copy of that either. I also had a dna test done, which came back positive. How can I get my child's social security number? I live in Cincinnati, OH.

You really don't need it. That is probably why she won't give it to you.

I know that where I live if you go down to vital statistic records, you can show your ID and for 10.00 you can get the birth cert. and you can get the ss card but i'm not sure how much that is.

Good Luck

and you are intitled to have that.

its your kid.

If you go to Vital Statistics like ^^she suggested and get a copy of hte birth certificate, you can take it to SS and just get a print out with the child's number on it.

Better work fast. It sounds like mom wants to claim the child on taxes before you do.

why would they need it? you cant claim them on your taxes, the mother handles all the school stuff and anything else the kids does, if you needed it you would have had it.maybe she wont give it to you because she figures youre going to try to claim the child on your taxes. i really dont know how anyone would go about getting it....

It should be in the case file for child support, which I hope you are paying through the courts as anything else is considered a gift and not support. These links will teach you about your rights and what you should be doing.
