How do you stop facebook notifications from going to your email?

So i have had a facebook for like 2 years, and every time I get a notification, its automatically sent to my email. How can i stop this? Someone help! its annoying

Go to your Account Settings page and click Notifications. There you can click individual categories and in the drop-down lists that follow you can check/uncheck as appropriate. Be sure to save your changes!

If something is checked, then every time that particular event occurs, FB will email you a notification that that event has occurred.
