Why my computer is not detecting my voice?

Whenever I do video chat with my friends on facebook,they can't hear my voice! I can clearly hear their voice,but they can't.When I opened the 'speech recognition' in my computer,it is unable to detect my voice.Also there's no problem with my headphone since I had bought it two days before.So please help me with my problem.I am eagerly waiting to chat with my brother who is abroad!

Obviously it's your mic. I suggest you return it to the manufacturer and get a new one.

Try to use that mic (headset) on another computer or phone to see if it's working. If it is, check the device drivers/sound card of your computer.

It would really help if you can put here what OS, mic/headset, and device (laptop/desktop PC)you are using.
