Give three reasons and proofs for each for why cellphones shouldn't be allowed in high school?
How it violates privacy?
How it provides bullying opportunities?
How they prevent quality learning?

1.) Most phones now have video/audio recording capabilities which you can send to other people or put online right from your phone. So if one student were to record another or record teachers without there knowing or permission that's a violation of that ones rights to privacy. True that can happen anywhere but if they can prevent it in schools and remove as much liability on themselves as possible i don't blame them.

2.) Well that goes into the whole thing of "cyber bullying". One kid can record another and send it to everyone else in an attempt to put the other kid down. May not sound like much but some people take things differently than other, again just the school trying to wave liability on themselves.

3.) Well I ca think of 2 ways it can affect learning. One is phones provide an extra distraction during class (Even ive texted or played games in class). The other way is that phones are being used a lot more for cheating by texting answers between each other.

Hope that answers your question(s).

It violates Privacy because it is not easy to take someone's phone and go through everything on it. Also new technology allows for some phones to hack into people's phones via bluetooth.
2.It provides bullying opportunities because many bullies are cowards and find it easier to threaten you through messages and internet. They send hurtful messages to students in class.
3. They deffineatly prevent quality learning because It distracts students from class.
How many times have you gotten bored in class and just sat there wishing you had your phone?
well taking out your phone in class and sending text messages to one another can disturb people who wish to take part in class and this brings it back to bullying, people can text one another rumours about you and both look at you and sneer.
But phones can be necessary in school.
One student in my school had cancer and needed his phone to ring his mom incase of an emergency.

I don't agree with it violating privacy.

I also don't agree with it providing bullying opportunities. If the students want to bully someone, they can do it on their cell phones or in person whether they are in school or not.

The only one that I agree on is that it can prevent quality of learning because they will be too busy texting each other and checking their Facebook status, than they will be on the lesson plans.

When companies came out with cell phones, did they really realize how much impact they would have other industries?

1. Violates privacy. I'm laughing about this one, because children have no concept of keeping their personal business or their families personal business PERSONAL. Granted, it's no different than before phones when people would spread rumors because they only heard a part of a conversation and blew it out of proportion but instead of being "small town", it's global now with the use of phones. Also, if a phone is stolen, there are ways to extract contacts and conversations from the phone even with a lock on it.

2. As long as there are organized learning facilities, there will be bullying opportunities. Cell phones don't really add to those opportunities. If anything, a recording app on a phone might prevent or cure a bullying situation.

3. Cell phones are a huge distraction whether in the school or work environment. People are obsessed with talking with friends and acquaintances and learning about other people's business instead of learning what is being taught in school. I have to agree that phones do not belong in school class rooms for the simple purpose of keeping a class under control. There is nothing more distracting than a class taking a test and a "twitter" alarm goes off.

I wish there could be a happy medium between responsible phone usage and learning. There are times when I need to reach my children during the day and don't want to interrupt the whole classroom to ask a simple question.
