what are hash tags used for on Twitter?
What are hashtags used for on Twitter, and how and when do you use them? I've jsut read that people go to 'Twitter Jail' if they post too many times in a day and I sometimes used to see #tellJimmy(on American Idol?

Hashtags are just a useless invention created so stupid people can enjoy themselves. Sorry. Not a fan of Twitter. But they (hashtags) don't actually do much, but that if enough people use the same hashtag around the same time, it gets the privilege of being a "trending topic." Yay?
