I understand Pan is a ythological Greek God but what significance would a person's 'belief in Pan' have and furthermore why do you think it would be important for them to advertise this on, say, a twitter or facebook profile page?

I understand this is conjecture but weigh in - is their a modern day Pan following? A religion?

I may think they were attempting to high light to absurdity of belief in any god, but if I were wrong about that, I wouldn't care and would quickly move on.

Yes, there's a modern day Pan following. Usually the followers will describe themselves as pagans, neopagans, or witches. And the person who describes him/herself as a believer in Pan is looking for others who share that belief, as a general rule.
