How do you work Twitter?!?!?!?!?

Okk so I just made a twitter & I understand how to retweet & reply but I still have a few questions.

-What exactly are hashtags & how do I use them?

-I saw this on someone's twitter(I took out the names of course but everything else is the exact same)& I was wondering if this was the same thing as replying. Like I know the equal sign has to mean something...so who wrote the "stay strong & smile " part? The person who was mentioned/tagged right?

people often use the hashtags in trending topics or watevz..

like #imhungy idk what theyr actually for .. ehhehe sorry

and maybe that person woh said thanks for talking.... has theyr twitter on private tweets.. so the other person they were writing it to couldnt RT it so they put: RT @watsaface and wat they said.. and = stay strong and smileis theyr reply to wat watsaface said.. (:
