When does child support stop if my child is home schooled? Is home school considered a full-time?
I live in CA and I pay child support to my ex for my daughter who is a home school student, not a full time high school student. Will child support stop at 18 or until she's does with home school?

For 22 years, I have volunteered my time working with divorced/single fathers dealing in family law issues, such as child support, teaching them about what the states are not telling support obligors.

What does the child support order specify?

Let's say she graduates home schooling at age 17 but still lives at home and starts college early...what's the harm in continuing to support her for another year or two? If it benefits her education and overall well being...

Child support should never stop if you are any man at all.....This is your daughter and you are concerned with then you can stop supporting her? MY GAWD what is happening to men?

Anyway, sorry I am being so offended, but my dad was similar to you, and now that I'm an adult, I have nothing to do with him.

You should not only want to support your daughter, but also see her through college and plan to spend the rest of your life helping her, inlcuding paying for her wedding someday, and helping her with your grandchildren if needed.

This doesn't mean you have to fully support her with money the rest of her life, but you do need to be able to be there, and help pay when needed, for things that you are suppose to pay for. And I hope to gosh, for her sake, you are not going to try and duck your responsibility. That would not give her the proper head start in life, most parents want to give their children!

Child support is not tied to what kind of school the child goes to.

Read your divorce decree. It states when you are done. She may have even put in there that you are responsibile to pay her way through college. That's why anyone who doesn't use a lawyer is foolish.

Being home-schooled isn't relevant to whether or not you pay child support...you can stop paying when the court order says you can (it should be in the papers that set up the child support in the first place)...

In many US states it stops at age 18, but there are circumstances where it may continue beyond that...read your papers to find out when you will no longer owe it..
