If there are emails in the conversations folder does that mean u had conversations with whoever they from?

Yesterday i just so happened to look at my husbands emails (which I'm still using now) and I found 4 emails in the conversations folder and they are all from the same nasty porno/dating site but from different people. He swears he never went to the site but how did they get his email address? He just started using that email and he only gets emails from me, his Facebook notifications, and a few from yahoo(well that's all I've seen on there). I figure if u have messages in the conversations folder it must be because u have chatted with the people
at 1 time or another and he must have been to some kind of nasty porno/dating site at some point and used his email for something right? I am hoping so much that I am wrong and he is telling the truth but I have had the same email address for 5 years and never once have I gotten anything nasty like that, hell I don't even have anything in my conversations folder. Please help me. Thank u.

They are spam.
Messenger through email messages from spammers go to the Conversations folder. He has not chatted with anyone.
