Here are 7 proven tips as per our Professional Webmasters Advice with regards to how to get more traffic and visitors yo your site:-

1. Is your website a paid domain name (dot com, net, org, etc.) ?
You can have many free websites and free blogs that drive traffic to your website, but you need to have at least one top level domain name.

2. Is your domain name a memorable one? Many website owners and webmasters make commonly overlooked mistakes by creating a really long, easily forgettable names. Remember what Simon Cowell said everytime a so-so song at American Idol? He taught us one of the golden rules that is a performer must leave the crowd with a memorable impression. Do you want the crowd to forget you easily? The same applies to your website. Besides coming up with a good domain name, how well is your site design (visually) to your visitors?

3. Is your website SEO (search engine optimized) with meta tags for every page? You need Professional Webmasters Tips or Advice.

4. Do you have reasons for your visitors to return to your site? Is your website updated regularly with fresh, useful content, free downloadable stuff, free e-newsletters, sales offers, forum, blog, etc?

5. Is your website easily found in the top search engines?

6. The more online presence the better it is for your website. - Invest in Adwords. Write about it and promote it at blogs, forum, social network sites, article directory, video upload sites, press release and especially posting it at biggest or largest classifieds. A good list can be found at High-Traffic-Classifieds.blogspot.com Never cut, copy and paste exact advertisement content. You should invest in Post Free Ads as well as Paid Featured Ads.

7. You can also further duplicate efforts by recruiting sales agents (affiliate members). This method helps to leverage your effort and time. This would require an affiliate software.

You can never go wrong if you follow professional webmasters tips.

Here are some ways you can promote your website and increase your traffic

1. Create great content – everything starts with great content. Think 'Linkbait" -- or writing about stuff that would be so great that people will want to link to you. It can be a news hook where you write about something that is contrary to what everyone else is saying; resource hook where you have the only information available or humor hook.

READ this Google guide on what they consider to be a high quality site, which will give big search engine traffic http://googlewebmastercentral.blogspot.c...ality.html

2. Use RSS Feeds. Most blog platforms such as Wordpress and Blogger have RSS feeds. Submit your blog to RSS directories. Use Feedburner, and offer the option of sending out your blog as an email as well.

3. Update the content regularly – make your visitors come back again and again to your blog by providing daily updates (even multiple posts per day!)

4. Use social media. You mentioned that you are using social media -- but how are you doing with it? How many fans does your page has on Facebook? Are they engaging with your content? Have you tried doing Stumbleupon or Digg - and if so, have others responded to it? Try to analyze how you're currently doing social media and look for ways to improve its effectiveness in bringing traffic.Be sure to put social media tools in your site for easy sharing -- Addthis, Facebook Like, Twitter, Google+, and others

5. Submit your site to directories such as

Technorati http://www.technorati.com/ping.html
Open Directory Project http://www.dmoz.org

6. Network with other bloggers/website owners – comment on their blogs, read and link to other blogs and request them to link back to you. Email other bloggers; pitch your post to other bloggers and hope that they will link or mention your blog. Offer them exclusive content as long as they add a link back to your blog (and be sure that it is a dofollow link).

7. Use techniques to showcase your blog – examples include meme games such as the Daily Meme http://blogcarnival.com/bc/

8. You can try pay per click programs such as Google Adwords http://www.google.com/adwords or Yahoo Search Marketing – though the key is to carefully track your ROI and which keywords actually perform well

9. Make sure your website is indexable by the search engines - and make sure that your titles have great keywords that your target audience are most likely to use. Optimize your blog for the search engines. Make sure that it doesn't have any technical problems -- e.g. canonical URLs, duplicate content

10. Send out press releases. While outfits charge as much as $650 per release, there are free press release submission places on the Web. Press releases allow you to (a) attract media attention; (b) get more back links to your website without sending each website an email request; and © get more visibility especially if your press release gets in Google News or Yahoo News.

You should learn SEO. Do some keyword research, then write an article and/or create a video. Then drive backlinks to it.

The below resources will show you in more depth how to rank on page one of Google.

You should also integrate social media - facebook, twitter, youtube, google plus, linkedin, digg, and so on.

If you use wordpress then i recommend the wordpress plugin "sexybookmarks"

If you don't use wordpress then - well what were you thinking. Wink

Hey Tim I know its hard to get visitors on your site but it is possible to get more traffic if you keep trying new techniques and be persistent. As most people stated, google adwords is a good investment to try and sometimes you have to invest a little money into something in order to succeed. You should also do research on SEO's and start networking with people. If you want to start building your brand you might also want to get business cards and really start to promote your site. Social networking is a great way to build your site as well and I have found some sites where you can submit your social networks and websites and they will promote you such as http://fuckyeahmorefollowers.tumblr.com/. Despite the name, I was able to get more twitter followers, tumblr followers, and facebook fans just by having it promoted on the site. You should try it out I mean what do you have to lose. Keep on building your website and don't give up cause too many people give up so early.
