How do I get more traffic and visitors on my site?

So I have had a website on fitness for quite a while now but I barely get any traffic on it :/ I also use social networks such as tumblr, twitter, youtube, and facebook to promote my site but it still isn't working... As most people stated, google adwords is a good investment to try and sometimes you have to invest a little money into something in order to succeed. You should also do research on SEO's and start networking with people. If you want to start building your brand you might also want to get business cards and really start to promote your site.
