Why have I started getting notifications on Facebook when people add photos / update statuses?

I don't have anyone on my close friends list for the exact reason that I don't want notifications for these. Yet I'm getting notifications randomly from anyone when they post something,

You can stop these notifications by clicking the arrow at the far right, to the right of "Home", selecting 'account settings'. The third option down (on the left) is notifications. Scroll down, and you will see Facebook. To the Right of Facebook is a hyperlink that says, "edit". Click it. From here, you can control exactly what notifications you will receive.

you probably added one by a accident and didint know it check your lists and remove that person than you shouldint see anymore Notifications about that
