How do I get closer to the guy I like?

I really like a friend of a friend and he's very nice to me most of the time (though sometimes I feel as if he's looking right through me). We talk sometimes on Facebook and he has opened up to me some regarding his feelings about relationships and has offered me rides home from school events on more than 1 occasion.

All of this is moot though, because all I need to know is how to get closer and develop some sort fo relationship with him?
