How do i apply my avatar to my account?

I made and save an avatar, bu when i go to apply it to my answers account, I select it and the avatar comes up in the picture window. The I go to save it and when it is save, the exclamation point replaces my avatar. Do you have to bee a certain level to show your avatar?

Your avatar can be a cartoon or a photo. You can also use your Facebook or Twitter avatar.

STEP 1.
In order for your avatar to appear you must make your Yahoo Profile visible. That is done here:
http://profile.yahoo.com/y/settings/privacy/
There is no reason to hide your profile. Nothing appears unless you enter it and turn a switch on. The name can be anything you want.

STEP 2.
To create a cartoon avatar first go to http://avatars.yahoo.com and create one.

STEP 3.
Click on the default avatar in Y!A and select "edit my preferences".

Click on "update photo or avatar" and a small window will open.
You can select the cartoon, Facebook, or Twitter avatar or upload your own photo.
After clicking "use selected photo" be sure to click "submit".
The same photo will appear in the Yahoo Profile.

You can also select the photo in the Yahoo Profile instead.

2 ways to do it, go here , http://profile.yahoo.com top right click on the settings icon (looks like a gear)
On the next page click on the box where your ! avatar is. On the next page under your avatar click change picture,
from there you can make a avatar upload a image from your computer or import a picture from facebook.

Go to My Activity, top center, click Edit my Preferences then click Update Picture or Avatar, all your images will be displayed. Click on a image or avatar a orange box will appear around it,
you can remove it or select it as your display avatar. You can also upload new images from here.

If you want a custom avatar go to one of these sites and make a custom avatar, save it to
your computer and upload it as a picture.

Click "My Activity" at top of page
Select "Edit My Preferences"
Click "Update photo or avatar"
Follow instructions to select your photo/avatar
Click "Submit" on bottom of original page when done
