Help!! I don't understand twitter! ?

Hey, I joined twitter yesterday! And I'm already confused!!!!!! I don't understand the # or @. Can anyone help!!!

= hashtag is like a group of tweets about a certain topic like "#dressing funny" then you tweet about something or someone dressing funny

@ = at the persons name like @rasean or @jade

I don't understand it either but I think all your meant to do is just post on peoples walls and follow them (on twitter of course don't actually find their house and follow them everywhere) I tried to signup for twitter and yeah I got in and all but I don't understand it either sorry if this didn't help D:

Ha! I had the same problem but it becomes simpler once you understand.

The @ is when you're referring to some one like for example:

Random dude: I love your shirt where did you get it?

Me:@Random dude I got it from Urban Outfitters.

It's also used when you want to get someone's attention in your post(tagging) for example.

Post:omgee! I can't find my favorite Nerd glasses! @Random dude I know you have it!

And the # is used for like, the most talked about things on Twitter also known as "trending topic" like for example.

Most talked about thing: The Hunger Games.

Post:I just went to the movies to see The Hunger Games! It was soo rad! #the hunger games
