how can somone find out personal information on you?

Such as what school you used to go to etc. As well as, numerous other personal information, if there is absolutely no way... normally they could get hold of it?
Information...that is NOT listed on your profile, on things like, facebook, myspace etc
If they only have your name to go on, and email adress?

You can start with google ...

Try it now .. type in your name .. then try again, this time using your email address

Use the data you get from the first two searches (eg a street address) to search again .. you will be surprised what you can find if you look hard enough :-)

Of course, if you have a 'common' name you may get rather more 'hits' than expected [for example "Joe Bloggs" returns 'about' 156,000 pages :-) ]

If you visit my web site, your PC's IP address will identify the area in which your PC is located = if I then assume that's the same as where you live, a quick trip to your local Library to see the Voters Register will soon show up you (or at least your parents) address ...

Most families don't move around much = so a trip to the local Church (you were baptized, I assume ?) & a walk around the grave yard and I can now start your family tree ... (births & deaths are even on line nowadays)

Next step is the Credit Reference Agencies (name + address = credit report = list of all loans (Banks, Credit Cards etc) you have ..) ..

Then if I was REALLY interested, well at some stage I would have turned up a phone number for one of your relatives, friends, work place etc.. one a quick phone call pretending eg. your mum's at death's door, and some-one will soon be giving me a complete list of everywhere you might be (and calls to them will establish what you do there what times you might turn up etc))

If I needed access to your Bank Accounts etc. (and the Bank refused to 'play ball') I could go park outside your house (making a quick note of any Car Numbers for a DVLA look up of your traffic offenses later) & then establish your daily 'routine' ... I would look for an opportunity to lift your wallet (if you do any sort of sports, there's a good chance I can simply raid the locker room - otherwise it could be necessary to 'dip' your pocket in the pub / disco)
