Can I set my messages to private without my mum knowing on facebook?
The thing is I want the rest of my friends to know about this message but my mum is on facebook (she's my friend) which I don't want her to know. How can I do that? I also want to share it with the rest of my facebook friends. It's something a mother wouldn't approve but a friend would.

Ok, type it in your status box, then click the little gray lock button next to share. Then click "Customise" then under "hide this from" put your mom.

text the friend. no need to air your dirty laundry out on facebook.
if all else fails, delete your mom. she wont even now unless she looks for you.

you create a list with your friends in it. then just send a message to the list. that way it's not posted on your wall or a friends wall that you mom might see

As long as your mum doesn't have your FB password, you could send a message to multiple people. Some friends and I do that for jokes not meant for public eyes.
When you fill in the "to" portion of the message input all the people's names, then write and send.

you can adjust your privacy settings so that you hide your status updates and wall posts from specific people; set this as your mum and she will no longer see any of your wall posts.

1. Send private messages to friends profile>send msg
or
2. Write it on friend's wall, but make sure to change your wall post settings so that only you and the recipient can see it.
or
3. write on on fb chat it's also private
or
4. in privacy settings you can set who do you want your posts to be visible to i. e. : friends, friends or friends, custom, choose custom and in the first box put names of people you to see the message and in the second box put your mum's profile name under: do not show to the following tag
or
5.write a private msg press ctr+a or in apple apple command key+a while choosing recipients and still holding ctr uncheck your mum.
