why do people on facebook put # at the end of their status?

Because they are dumb and don't know the difference between twitter and facebook.

because they think it's cool even though it has no function on facebook. Also, some of them might just not have twitter or instagram or whatever else uses hashtags and just don't know what they're for and just think its a cool thing to do...there are probably also some people that just do it cause they update their twitter and facebook at the same time..

hashtag, they got the idea from twitter. they utilize the pound sign- # to appear witty in their comments/statuses, and appeal to the masses.
