Is it appropriate to memorialize someone with a facebook?
My sister died 14 years ago at 8 years old. I wanted to do something tasteful to memorialize her that my parents would appreciate to let them know in a cautious way that she is still remembered. Would creating a facebook in her memory be touching or offensive to them? A place where people could pay their condolences, tell stories, etc?

It's been a while, so it's iffy. I see people make memorial pages for people who have just recently passed, or for a group of people. If you're concerned that people might find this offensive, you might want to give it another thought.

I wouldn't do facebook - she died 14 years ago and facebook didn't even exist then. If I were you, I would make a slide show of her. I would then send it to everyone that knew her. And leave an option at the end for people to leave memories, etc. That way, it isn't open to the world and is kept more private - I think a more suitable way to show you still care and remember.

I am friends with someone on facebook and she passed away in a tragic car accident a few months ago. Now her parents kept it up for the same reason you would like to create one. I think its completely appropriate as long as its done right. I also think, though, that you should consult your parents before you do it and see how they feel about it, and decide from there. I also am very sorry for your loss.
