Why Should she have a Facebook?
I know a girl that is 13 years old, she wants a facebook but her mother will not let her get one. I know there are reasons other then it is fun that she should have a facebook. If her mother can monitor her facebook what would you say that would convince her it is okay to have a facebook?

You can set the privacy settings so no one but you and your friends can see the wall. You can also hide when you're online so other people can't see that you're on. Many teachers have public facebook pages they use to tutor or help students, and colleges facebook pages often have advice for getting in, insider tips from other students, or even opportunities to network with professors.

To be honest, 13 is to young for the Internet it self. Hell, 13 is too young for cell phones and personal computers. Facebook can be fun, but it is also very dangerous. There are virus adds and sick people who would want to get into a 13 year olds pants. Dont try and convince her mother, but love her for what she has done.

It's easier to see what she's doing on Facebook then it is on Myspace. Cause on Facebook you can see what her friends write to her and what she's writing to other people. If you're the parent just make a facebook disguised as someone her age and try and add her so you can see what she's doing.

Well, some advice as to help convince 'her' mother:
- Sign up with her mom present
- Have her mom know her account password
- Before adding/accepting any friends, talk it over with her mom
- Get her mom an account too, and be friends with her
- Clear up any rules or problems with her mom that her mom has
- Don't be sneaky and don't hide anything
- No status updates as to where she is or what she is doing
- No personal contact information
- No personal information
- Don't have real photos of herself on the account (don't tag, delete any tags)
- Don't use full last name

Facebook is a great social networking website. It allows you to keep in contact with friends at the click of a mouse.

Talk to her mother, you're wasting you time otherwise

Just to let you know, if my daughters were 13 again, I wouldn't allow it either, at least unsupervised.

my 8 yr old has a facebook account. i know her password and monitor who she is friends with. if she gets a friend request then she has to ask me if she can add them. i let her have one cause we have family living way off and that is the cheapest way for her to talk to them.
