Help with twitter????

i dont get what the hashtags(#) or the (@) signs are all about. and how do i know if my post is good enough? any advice on twitter kr help on how to use it please? :/

for example you tweet something that made your day, u do like #MADEMYDAY , and when somebody searchs that they can see ur tweet too if your privacy allows others to see. and the @ sign plays a same role like in Facebook. To specify who are you referring to. Hope I was clear.
