How do you direct message someone on Twitter without them following you?

hi guys i am following tom felton (draco malfoy from harry potter) on twitter and i need to find out how to direct message him without him following me!! i have already done @TomFelton and he replies to alot of people he isnt following! how can i dm hm??

you cant DM if the person is not following you. however, he doesnt need to follow you to send an @reply.

In-order to DM they must follow you.

However, if a person doesn't have that many followers you can take this as an excellent sign that they don't manage their DM's very well.

You could @ response them a request to DM them letting them know that they first need follow your for the DM msg to be successful.

There are options, most just aren't as good as the ole follow and be followed routine.
