Would you be annoyed if a distant cousin contacted you?

I am doing a family tree and I found some 3rd & 4th cousins. I found them on facebook, but I know sometimes people don't want to be bothered. I don't know what to say because explaining how we are related through the family tree is complicated. On the other hand I want to because I am excited to know I have more cousins! )

If a distant relative contacted you out of the blue, would you be happy that you have another cousin or would you not want to be bothered?

This has happened to me and I've never been discouraged by explaining what family ties we have. Sometimes, though, these people are not just distant, but also a different in their way of life that you're either not used to or even may be opposed to. So sometimes you have to just remain casual at best with them and let it go at that.
